Today I want to share with you one of my favorite editorials of all time, featuring supermodel Eniko Mihalik for Vogue Paris that was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in 2008.
This editorial takes readers through a lifetime of ages as Eniko (who was age 22 in 2008) is transformed from age 10 to age 60 in a single editorial. With the changes in Eniko's expression and poses, along with the different make up, hair, and styling for each photo, the magazine was able to pull off this concept beautifully.
The spread starts off with Eniko, at age 10.
Her youthful facial features (such as her adorable dimples), as well as her giggly expression and half hidden smile all give the illusion that in fact Eniko is 10 years old, at the dawn of life. AMAZING!
This next photo is the model at age 20....
Here, you can tell the model is just discovering herself...experimenting with makeup and various accessories.... even straightening her hair. Her expression is hopeful and excited for her life ahead of her.
It's funny to look at this photo because Katie-Lu and I will be turning 20 in January... this editorial makes me realize how young we still are.
Next up, age 30...
Corrupted by her 20's, Eniko at age 30 seems to have been through a decade of experimentation with drugs....her expression is a little "too cool for school" in the sense she's been there, done that.
Age 40....
With the styling in this photo you can see that now the model is middle aged and that she's somewhat of a cougar!
Age 50...
Here, Eniko's taste has been refined with age...she's aging with class, which is the best way to do it, if you ask me.
And finally, Age 60...
I love this last photograph because it gives those of us who are young something to look forward to. Here, age 60 is portrayed as a time of inner peace and self-actualization. Although she still has a few decades to look forward to herself, Eniko seems to have great confidence in who she is and the life she's experienced. Here, she radiates inner beauty opposed to the outer beauty she had in her youth.
What are your thoughts on this editorial? Every time I take a look at these photos I'm amazed.
love, Meggasus xo

Miranda Kerr goes High Fash
For fashion models, the ideal career path is to start out in the high fashion scene, walking for shows during fashion week and getting as much quality editorial (magazine) work as possible. Once the model has established a credible reputation for herself as a high fashion model, she can eventually switch over to commercial modeling and earn the big bucks.
For Miranda Kerr, her career path has been just the opposite.
Known for being "The perfect commercial model" with her beautiful face, petite yet healthy frame and adorable dimples, Miranda has always dominated the commercial modeling scene, winning over highly coveted commercial contracts such as Victoria's Secret.

Miranda Kerr walking for the Victoria's Secret show, 2008 in Miami. She's go the smile, the tan, the windblown hair, her hands on hips, dimples, polka dots, colors...commercial, commercial, commercial!
This fall, Miranda surprised us all by walking in the Givenchy show during Paris Fashion Week.

She's got the Death Stare, pale skin, slicked hair, edgy makeup, dull colors....NOT COMMERCIAL AT ALL. Verrry high fash.
But that's not all, this girl is on fire as her career makes a total 360.....shooting for editorials in V magazine and most recently, Russian Vogue.

Miranda for Russian Vogue's February2010 issue shot by Willy Vanderperre.
We're both curious to see how far Miranda can go in high fashion...generally, once someone is dubbed as "commercial" their chances of making it in the high fashion world are slim. Seeing as Willy Vanderperre shot Miranda for both of these editorials, I'm guessing he is one of those people who are behind her switch to high fashion.... Willy's no Steven but it just goes to prove that all it takes is for one or two influential people to believe in you and your high fash career can be set.

No Cheesy Smiles at the Dinner Table Allowed...
Ok so to understand this new theme for the blog that Meg and I are finally putting into action, which is “Life is a vogue editorial,” the average Joe must understand what an editorial is. I will give you an example… If I were to tell you to “Vogue it out” while sitting at the dinner table, the last thing you would do in an editorial photo is sit next to the table with your arms by your side and smile at the camera.
When one shoots an editorial, they must utilize their surroundings…this means, USE the dinner table. Crawl on top of it, crouch under it, straddle the chairs, Dance around it, grab the forks off the table and twirl them in your hair… or maybe even your date’s hair? Utilize the candlesticks as a weapon towards the camera and your plate as a shield. Sip from the wine glasses sophisticatedly before you crash them over the top of the centerpiece. Use the table cloth as a tent. Instead of eating the food, bite the plate. My point is, the more creative you get, the better. The more risks you take, the more of a chance for a picture to look like it could have come out of the pages of Vogue. When you shoot an editorial, it’s not about trying to look sexy or hot, it’s about being unique and expressing your personality.
Lastly, the key to this concept is confidence. As long as you appear confident, no one will question your actions. It may even end up looking cool. Sort of like in life? …hmmmm yes I believe so.
